About The Artist

Tom Ehlers has always been interested in doing artistic creations with concrete. With his foundation of knowledge of concrete and surrounded by artistic friends, Tom learned to make his first rubber mold of a simple clay carving. From there, using his artistic and concrete construction background, he started his company - Stone Effects.
His focus has been making architectural and garden elements. For over 24 years, Tom has made a living doing what he loves. Starting with the concept on the drawing board, creating the model, making the mold and casting the piece in concrete. Over the years Tom has made over 300 molds of his original designs, architectural finds, and artist - friends creations.
Tom developed his own concrete mix which uses Glass Fibered Reinforced Cement (RFRC). This mix is manufactured to withstand the harshest weather conditions. Using integral colors, various stains and textures, his cast concrete has the style of weathered Old World carved stone.
Stone Effects creates Architectural and Garden Elements. Mantels, Fountain Features, Garden Plaques, Corbels, Keystones, Entryways, Tiles, Balustrades, Faux Bois Furniture, Statuary, Finials, Masks, Leaves, and Monuments.

    For Garden Sphere

My wife and I saw one of Thomas's Garden Spheres and decided we wanted a smaller version to make a pendant light. I know it might seem a bit odd, but we love the idea of concrete pendants. Thomas made us a 9" diameter sphere with 2 1/2" holes for light fixture placement. It turned out better than we could have ever expected. BTW - I never write reviews but Thomas's work merited it. Thank you, Thomas! Michael Wilson
