Revolving Double Bookcase The idea of a double-sided bookcase came from a Georgian piece made in the 1800's, and sized for a large English Manor House – almost 8 feet long and 4 feet high. This made me start thinking about the form and its use in contemporary homes, and I settled on a design that could be used as a side table, and also had the ability to access both sides of the bookcase easily. By using high tech bearings and support wheels for the rotation mechanism, and steel shafting with bronze bushings to keep the parts concentric and rigid, I was able to make a piece of furniture which is exciting, functional and still aesthetically pleasing. The burled maple on the top, with the ebony and holly stringing, sets off the natural beauty of the Honduran Mahogany. The two secret compartments are designed with hidden hinges and latches, so that only the owner knows how to access it. If you lose the key, you may always contact me and I can make another. The surface finish on this revolving bookcase is lacquer, a natural product that is easily repaired by a finisher, and which is not particularly sensitive to water or alcohol. The surface is hard and durable, but will scratch if abused.

For round extendable dining room table with pedestal legRichard Oedel of Fort Point Cabinetmakers was so helpful, professional, and creative throughout our design process of making a dining room table. Very professional drawings were presented; friendly and timely communication over the phone, email, and in person to take measurements and see our space; through attention to details and consideration to our project restrictions, preferences, and style. Very appreciative of our positive experience -- and would highly recommend as Richard has a sincere interest in completing a project to the exact customer's preference and specifications.

For Custom Oak Benches (2)From the start, Richard Oedel of Fort Point Cabinetmakers was more than helpful and insightful. Because he was making matching benches for my dining table and my table was so large, he drove 60 miles each way to see it in person, take measurements and pictures to discern the right look. Drawings were presented, a budget was agreed upon and not only was the project delivered on time, but it matched perfectly and the quality was unsurpassed. I could not say enough good things about Fort Point Cabinetmakers as to their skill, quality of work, professionalism and sincere interest in completing a project to the exact customer specifications.
