Wildflowers On Maple

$8,000

This entry door was built for a beautiful log house on an old homestead in a field of wildflower as grasses. Unless instructed more specifically by the home owner, I usually draw inspiration for a door from the surrounding area and environment. In this case, at the time, there ware many patches of goldenrod and other wildflowers, so I thought this would be appropriate. (The home owner left me to design this one on my own). Initially I made a full pencil drawing of the carving for the owner's approval (I don't want to totally build an entry door without the owner having an idea what I am doing), and also because I thought it was a cool concept for a work of art and I do enjoy pencil drawings. This is actually framed now as one of my works of art and hangs in my house. The door is made of Maple. The main panel with the carving is curly maple. It is an over-sized door, 38" wide, 2 1/4" thick. I specialize in custom-built, one of a kind, hand carved doors, architectural woodwork and furniture. I have built many hand carved and hand crafted entry doors and shipped them far and wide. Some of these are fairly simple and some are quite elaborate.

I also have designed and built a few pieces of furniture for some of the homes that I have designed and built in my area, but these could also be shipped just about anywhere. I do some custom built-ins for homes close by, my radius for on-site work is about 50 miles.

I enjoy all types of fine woodworking, but particularly the woodcarving and would be happy to discuss carving for elements in the home, office, or commercial building beyond just doors. I could build mantels, tables, desks, stairs or stair parts that might incorporate some of my carving even in a very small way.
