Woodworking Joinery

$5,000

In the proverbial nutshell, a wood joint can represent all the procedures and goals of furniture & cabinetmaking. Precise layout and accurate use of hand and power tools is required to successfully achieve a wood joint that is technically functional, secure and ascetically beautiful. The scarf joint is assembled, then slid through the mortice. At this point the scarf canít move apart in any direction. Then, when the wedges, on either side of the leg are driven in, the joint is fixed and ready to do its job of holding the table base together. Shown in the first photo. The tenon, at the end of the table leg stretcher which has a shoulder at the base of the tenon, is placed into and through the mortice in the leg. Once the wedge is driven in, to tighten the tennon to the leg, the leg can't move. The second photo shows a wedged mortice & tenon. A few words about Furniture Furniture can be a fun, creative and a functional expression of your life style. There are 'simply', NO LIMITS as what can be designed and built. We enjoy mixed media projects and have had experience in many materials, including natural stone, metals, leather, solid surface, plastic laminate, and glass, (etched, stained and beveled). Whether the piece you want is traditional, contemporary, eclectic or artistic, as you've seen, we can built it! Welcome to my Site . . .

I'm a skilled Craftsman, Designer, Artist, who specializes in fine cabinetry, furniture and Artwork. I seek individuality in design for my customers.

Since 1970, I’ve designed & built custom cabinets, furniture in PA, NJ, and NY.

Each project is designed for you, using my many years of experience. I can also work with your architect, designer or builder, using your designs.

My projects range from ‘Classic Traditional’ to ‘Contemporary’ in design, including ‘Crafts Style’, with its artistic exposed joinery. As you will see in my online portfolio.

I use a wide range of quality and interesting materials. From unique solid woods in the form of flitches, (natural edge boards that can be 36’’ wide, 14 ft long and 3’’ thick) to specific highly selected exotic veneers and grain patterns.

Over forty years of experience has tempered and honed my skills…. along with the ability to understand the needs of my clients and communicate my ideas.

My projects have been published in, House Beautiful Sept 1986, House Beautiful Home Remodeling and Renovations, Spring 1988, Better Homes and Gardens, Better by Design, April 1999. And most recently Fine Woodworking.

I'd like to mention my invention and subsequent US patent award, for the “EuroButt II System Hinge”. Which allows the cabinetmakers that use or want to use the concealed hinge the option to give the traditional design element of the traditional ball tip hinge barrel to the European concealed hinge.
