Shadow Box With Multiple Windows
Our client requested a shadow box for some unique items from a veteran who survived an explosion in Afghanistan. We suggested using the shape of the d0or of a personnel carrier and our imaginations took over after that. The project wound up with the upper section covering a concealed compartment in which anything could be stored but also capable of serving as a rack to hold a handgun in a position that would make it readily available in a hurry. The lower sections provided space for the mementos with a glass-front door covering that area. The outside of the upper compartment door contained a panel with a Bible verse laser engraved on it. That panel was intended to mimic the shape of the personnel carrier window. All-in-all, it was a fun, but challenging project that reflected not only our craftsmanship but also an admiration for the sacrifice of our servicemen. The recipient was lucky to be alive and certainly served under God's protective wing. Made from solid maple, cherry, and cherry veneers. Brass hardware.
