Quartersawn White Oak Mission Nightstand

$950

This quartersawn white oak mission nightstand is part of a bedroom set that was based on existing designs brought to me by my client. Please see my site to see the rest of the set. I then custom built the pieces according to his desires in regard to wood choice, finish, hardware and some modifications made to the bed to work with the adjustable bed set he already had. The nightstands feature dovetailed drawers with heavy duty ball bearing drawer slides. Please feel free to read his testimonial below. The pieces are finished with a urethane gel stain, multiple layers of wipe on polyurethane and rubbed out with wax. If you are interested in these pieces or something like them, feel free to contact me, and I would be happy to give you a price quote and discuss the many options available. "Aaron, I wanted to send you a little note to let you know we are thrilled with our new bedroom set you made. This set is exactly like we requested it to be made. Your quality is superb and attention to detail is remarkable. Craftsmanship of this caliber is not found in any store. To find a man in his 30's that has this talent is a rare find in this era of staples and plastic. If you ever need a reference let me know."" Harry

My name is Aaron Maes. I'm an artist, designer and master furniture maker. My work is known for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

My formal training is in studio art. I like to draw and paint, but in school I quickly gravitated to sculpture in wood and metal.

The physical process, the immediate feedback and the noise and smells and dust-the overall experience really engaged me creatively. The transition to furniture making was a natural one. I have always appreciated the art of finely crafted furniture, the beauty of the wood itself and the design challenges involved. It also lends itself well to my perfectionist nature as I strive to create art in a functional and beautiful piece.

My work is based on my love for the craft. I especially appreciate the design of the Arts and Crafts Movement and the simple lines of Shaker furniture, but I also thrive on the challenge to create a beautiful and well engineered piece that compliments an existing space or existing furniture.
