Just Horsing Around
This was one of them fun beds. It is a design from a customer. This is a combination painting and bed. I am not an artist so we brought in a local artist to do the painting for us. We built the bed and left the horse part just a square panel of MDF on the back and sides. The artist came in and traced the overall horse shape. We cut it out along with some detailed pieces to give it some depth. The jaw, front quarter and back quarter were again cut out and stacked for a three dimensional look. We finished all the base colors. The horses were a brown, the fence and main bed parts were left natural. The MDF clear coated gave a great background color for the flowers. The artist then came back in and finished the detail work in acrylics. We let dry for a couple days and then clear coated it. This custom kid's bed creation was completed in November 2011.
