This wonderfully odd table was designed around the beautiful Buckeye burl slab top. The unusual gray coloring is caused by a fungus that invaded the wood and caused spalting. There are several prominent voids that penetrate through the top forcing the mound under the top to wrap around in a 'U' shape. The interior of this shape is lined with over one hundred rosewood spikes that are roughly half the diameter of the outer mahogany spikes. For the most part these spikes can only be seen through the voids in the top. There are approximately 175 outer spikes, each with a custom lacquer finish. Materials: Buckeye burl, Oak, Rosewood, Mahogany
