This mirror is from a cross-sectional cut from a hollowed-out oak tree. Part of the interior is blackened, most likely from a lightning strike. Burl emerges from within and probably grew after the lightning burn. Price range for custom mirror, depending on design, size and complexity: $400-$600.

I offer handcrafted, unique furniture made from hardwoods found in the Pacific Northwest. The woods have been air dried, hand peeled and then sanded, retaining their natural shapes in a functional, if whimsical, furniture piece. Glued mortise and tenon as well as saddle joints are used throughout with the occasional hidden screw for added support. Finishes vary based on the preferences for a commissioned piece. I prefer an oil and beeswax polish finish for most of my work.
