A Star is Born.
Rick was given a piece of white pine, which was at least 100 years old. He was asked to make a coffee table. The wood had been preserved in the rafters of a garage. It had Formica on one side and paint on the other. Rick is a great communicator. After a long discussion, it was decided that he would make a table with a floating top, and base made of fur. He directed me where to find many pictures to get ideas for what I wanted.
There were several e-mails and another in-person consultation. Rick is prompt answering e-mails. And, he wanted to create what I wanted.
In the finished product, he rounded the ends and routed the sides of the board.
Rick is friendly. He welcomes conversation and suggestions. Rick answers e-mails quickly. He is fully responsive to the customer.
The table is sculpture. It is art. Rick Hensley of “Rockytop Woodworks" is a rare discovery. He is a five star artisan.

Rick Hensley's work is phenomenal!! We started the process with designs that I described and he translated into sketches. A couple of revisions later and we were ready to go with the project. Rick was easy to contact and in synch with what I was looking for which made the design process a breeze.

Then Rick started building the bookshelves and always provided weekly pictures, which was great so I could see the progress. Also, i did not ask for this, but he made the desktop from antique maple wood from 100+year old tree on the back of his property. It is so unique and gorgeous, I am thrilled he took that initiative and allowed it to become part of my home.

Once complete, we scheduled a good weekend, and he brought the completed bookshelves and desk to my house and installed them with his brother's help. Unfortunately, I had to leave during the install for a commitment, but my husband was there and got to see the whole process.

Rick stayed all day to make sure everything was perfect when I got home. The bookshelves and desk are so high quality, I will never ever work with anyone else on needs like this. Rick will be our go-to guy for any wood working needs. The final outcome is gorgeous and looks like it should have always been there - seamless, beautiful, pure craftsmanship.

I will more than happily recommend Rick to anyone seeking a project like this, as it was a pleasure to work with him, and I already have an idea for a new project! I could not be a happier client!!
