An existing client wanted a bed to match a small French provincial armoire I had built the year before. He wanted a piece to harmonize with the existing piece, but not necessarily match it. My research into French provincial styled bed frames did not work for us. I found that many of the details from the armoire that I wanted to mirror in the bed were found in Chinese furniture. The resulting design is a hybrid of Chinese and French provincial styles that works quite naturally.

John
For Victorian BookcasesI chose James Eddy for a bookcase project the included challenges that most other cabinet makers either balked at or refused outright to tackle. After much consultation with Jim, he admitted that he had never tackled anything like this before, but was very interested in handling it. His enthusiasm and obvious talent won me over. I could not have asked for a better job. His craftsmanship and attention to detail was amazing. As it was to be part of a Victorian library, he even included a shelving adjustment design that had been used in a library from the 1800's. No metal pins, all fitted wood, quite amazing. Jim even noticed a rather elaborate design that was carved in the corners of my Queen Anne desk, and hand carved the same design into the bookcase pilasters, rather than just fluting them.
All in all I could not be more pleased with the work, and the price was quite reasonable. Jim will soon start another project for me.
