Comfort Table Lamp

$595+

All solid wood lamp & shade. The lamp base features a segment turned body of black cherry (or other woods) with maple accents turned in a flared shape with a turned base on 8 button feet. This table lamp is available with a 15" high base, or a 19" one. The conical shade is available in 17" diameter for the 15" base, and 21" diameter for the 19" base. The conical shade is framed in joined solid wood. The translucent panels are mica in two colors, or a stabilized birds eye maple veneer or maple burl veneer. A thin penetrating epoxy and fiberglass cloth give the veneer exceptional strength and stability. The effect is a rich translucent glow. The shade is also available in two colors of mica, amber and neutral "silver" (recommended with cherry wood). The lamp is fitted with a 3 way socket that holds a 3-way LED bulb with the light equivalence of 150 watts for reading or tasks, or as little as 50 watts for accent lighting. An S-shaped two bulb cluster is also available. The lamp is finished in a durable catalyzed lacquer for easy care and long lasting beauty. A textured variation is available. The base and shade is ebonized cherry, hand incised in an free pattern to reveal the natural cherry on certain parts. It works well with amber mica or maple burl in the shade.

I chose James Eddy for a bookcase project the included challenges that most other cabinet makers either balked at or refused outright to tackle. After much consultation with Jim, he admitted that he had never tackled anything like this before, but was very interested in handling it. His enthusiasm and obvious talent won me over. I could not have asked for a better job. His craftsmanship and attention to detail was amazing. As it was to be part of a Victorian library, he even included a shelving adjustment design that had been used in a library from the 1800's. No metal pins, all fitted wood, quite amazing. Jim even noticed a rather elaborate design that was carved in the corners of my Queen Anne desk, and hand carved the same design into the bookcase pilasters, rather than just fluting them.

All in all I could not be more pleased with the work, and the price was quite reasonable. Jim will soon start another project for me.

I have never given 5 stars to all aspects of any review, ever. We could not be more pleased with the craftsmanship, professionalism, value, and the overall way in which the project went from design to production and through to installation. Jim was great to work with. The two credenza/bookcase units he produced are simply excellent pieces we'll end up passing on to the children.
