Sunniva Outdoor Chair

Our clients are looking more and more to include their outdoor spaces as living areas to enjoy. While Brian's work has focused on fine interior furniture, a request for 20 outdoor chairs for the Boston Golf Club in MA four years ago gave him an opportunity to explore the challenges of making outdoor furniture. Like all great furniture, outdoor chairs need to hold up to daily use, to provide years of comfort, and they have to be able to withstand the elements of nature as well. The design for the Boston Golf Club was very comfortable and a huge hit. But as with any design, ideas for how to improve the comfort, elegance, and structure keep coming in. This new version is more elegant and comfortable. Our wood of choice is Honduran Mahogany, a fine, high-performance wood suitable for the outdoors. We can also use painted solid oak, depending on your preference and decor. The finish is a penetrating oil and varnish mix designed to protect the chair and never peel. The main frame joinery consists of fully housed double tenons designed to shed water and stay strong for decades. The upper portions are all removable for easy refinishing. Another example of engineering and artistry with the client's comfort needs at the forefront. A sound investment in durable goods. Production time is 3-5 months, and is subject to change with demand.

At Brian Boggs Chairmakers it is our passion to create beautiful furniture. Surrounded by beautiful and well-managed forests, we begin the creative process by selecting the right tree for your table or chair. Inspired by the forest itself we strive to create our work with a balance of sustainability, integrity, and art. Think of this as putting the tree back together so that in its second life its beauty and durability are honored. We do this to ensure that our clients receive the finest furniture our hands and hearts can produce. This is our way of celebrating life. We invite you to join us.
