The woven back chair uses ancient green wood technology allowing natural wood movement to keep the joinery tight. The hand carved and steam bent back legs follow the lumbar curve and splay backward below the seat to provide a solid base for relaxation. Our reiteration of this classic offers unparalleled lumbar support in an elegant and highly customizable form. This is achieved by using five steam bent vertical supports in the chair's back, which are wrapped in memory foam before the panel is woven. There is also a foam pad in the seat. The foam offers luxurious comfort and prevents the weave from ever sagging. The Shaker Tape weave is available in a variety of colors and you can even specify the thickness of the foam padding, from plush to very firm. The frame of this black-and-white version is ebonized using iron saturated vinegar to react to the maple's natural tannins and create black ferrous tannate inside the wood fibers. This centuries-old method provides a fast ebonizing as close to coal black as possible. While wood itself is beautiful and needs no added color, the black frame of this chair helps to showcase the woven seat (available in your choice of Shaker tape). As with any of our designs, cherry, walnut, curly maple, and white oak are also options. The Boggs woven back chair brings ancient technologies into the 21st century for style and comfort. Production time is 3-5 months and is subject to change according to demand.

At Brian Boggs Chairmakers it is our passion to create beautiful furniture. Surrounded by beautiful and well-managed forests, we begin the creative process by selecting the right tree for your table or chair. Inspired by the forest itself we strive to create our work with a balance of sustainability, integrity, and art. Think of this as putting the tree back together so that in its second life its beauty and durability are honored. We do this to ensure that our clients receive the finest furniture our hands and hearts can produce. This is our way of celebrating life. We invite you to join us.
