This piece was commissioned for the New Security Command Center at the Federal Aviation Administration Complex. I t is located in Oklahoma City near Will Rogers World Airport. The glass is 1/2" Starfire (super clear) tempered. The etching was done with photographic emulsion stencil and hand carving. The image is sandblasted 1/4" into the glass for the 3D look. The image is lit with high intensity blue L.E.D. low voltage lights top and bottom. The edges are flat polished for maximum light transmission. The side edges are exposed for to accentuate the floating effect. Several prototypes were made prior to the final execution of the project. Architect Dwaine Rhodes of Kaighn and Associates Norman OK and FAA project members were closely involved in the project. This is at the Main security checkpoint for entering the FAA Training Center in Oklahoma City.
