I create hand carved tiles, tile murals and vessels to customers specifications. I love to work with client's ideas and interests, within the parameters of my techniques. I find it pushes me in directions that I might not think of myself.
With the convenience of the internet I can design for your site from home, no matter where you are. For tiles and tile murals, once we decide on a direction, I make a couple of "to scale" drawings. I will send these to you and ask you to hang them in the place you plan to install them. Live with them for a little while and see how they feel to you. From there we can make any adjustments that seem necessary. I can make and send adjusted drawings. Once we find a final design that works it will take anywhere from 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity. I can ship the finished project to you via UPS. The pieces for murals will be glued to mesh. Since the murals tend to be complicated, this makes installation much easier for you contractor, and less expensive for you.
With vases and vessels most clients go to my web site. If they see something there that they like, they can order it. But more often they find a shape that they like, a pattern they like, and want it in a specific size. Any design can be adapted to your needs, taste and budget.
I work in three basic glazes. Celadon green, peacock blue, and white. I choose my glazes carefully. I need formulas that are darker when thicker and that melt at just the right temperature. The glaze melts and puddles into the carving, accentuating the sense of depth and dimensionality. SO it is sometimes hard to find custom colors, but with a little research, sometimes I can accomodate custom color requests. Fortunately, the white tends to blend with almost any decor.
The real advantage of my work is that it can blend seemlessly into almost any decor. From traditional to ultra contemporary and most things in between.
Pricing is decided upon once a design is agreed to.
