Black Walnut Table Cubes

$250

This side table cube is made from thick solid walnut cut offs from larger projects, and ½" steel tube. The wood has a durable clear coat finished derived from cheese making byproduct called PolyWhey. The metal has been sanded to remove the mill finish and clear coated so you can still see the handcrafted welds. This listing is for one table, if you are interested in more than one convo me and we can figure out a discount for multiple tables. I currently have 4 in stock but more can be made to order - custom orders take about 6 weeks. Each table is an 18"x18"x18" cube. Multiple tables can be grouped together to make a larger table. Also with the 18" height the tables can double as stools, giving you flexibility for extra seating.

Objective:

The goal is to create unique furniture that is rooted in functionality, visually intriguing while displaying honesty of material and a bit of whimsy. To craft pieces that are viewed and used on multiple levels; work that melds with its surroundings while possessing the impact to stand apart. First appearances are of clean, simple objects. A closer look develops into layers of discovery about connections, tectonics, and the character of materials. Each element is continually edited throughout the process to insure every part contributes to the strength of the whole aesthetically, structurally, and conceptually.

Method:

Germinal to each design is an idea of the unique characteristics of materials, used to inspire the formation of the piece. If it is wood, steel, glass, textile or anything, the aim is to take advantage of the strengths and inherent beauty of each material. The act of construction is an ever-changing progression adapting to the challenges and opportunities inherent in manipulating raw materials into a final result.

Philosophy:

It is important to use materials in a sustainable manner. Selection of “green” products is equally important as how they are being used. Each piece of furniture is build with the idea it must stand the test of time to respect the materials from which it was formed.
