Live Edge Walnut Dining Table - Tressel Legs
This totally unique dining table is made from urban harvested Black Walnut with steel and walnut tressel legs. The sides of the table have the natural edge of what was the bark of the tree. The walnut has a nice amount of depth to the grain and all knots and voids have been filled with epoxy. This table is substantial, the top is a solid 1 1/2" of hard wood, and can stand up quite a bit of use. The table seats 6 comfortably, and can fit 8 friends around when needed. The legs for the table are made from tube steelmetal with solid walnut feet. The metal has the original mill finish which gas been clear coated to protect the metal. The wood has been sealed with PolyWhey, a water based polyurethane made from cheese making by-products. The dimensions of the table are 86" long, +/- 36" wide, and 30" tall.

Objective:
The goal is to create unique furniture that is rooted in functionality, visually intriguing while displaying honesty of material and a bit of whimsy. A closer look develops into layers of discovery about connections, tectonics, and the character of materials. Each element is continually edited throughout the process to insure every part contributes to the strength of the whole aesthetically, structurally, and conceptually.
Method:
Germinal to each design is an idea of the unique characteristics of materials, used to inspire the formation of the piece. If it is wood, steel, glass, textile or anything, the aim is to take advantage of the strengths and inherent beauty of each material. The act of construction is an ever-changing progression adapting to the challenges and opportunities inherent in manipulating raw materials into a final result.
Philosophy:
It is important to use materials in a sustainable manner. Selection of “green” products is equally important as how they are being used. Each piece of furniture is build with the idea it must stand the test of time to respect the materials from which it was formed.
