Custom Shadow Box
Here's the original request we received: I would like to get a custom shaped shadow box made for my dad who is retiring from the police department after 19 years. I attached a couple pictures, one is an image of the police department badge, another is a military shaped shadow box, and the other is a badge shaped shadow box. I really like the idea of having it shaped in his rank (sergeant) but i also like the idea of the badge shape. I would like to get an idea of what the maker is capable of. Also, I may need this project to be completed in a months time if possible. Budget flexible because of rushed timing. Here are some details on the project from the maker: Good afternoon Sarah, I am very pleased to offer you the following proposal with some loose ends to wrap up. 1. Birch display case with removable back with flat back mat board and a ply substrate back with turn button access and saw tooth picture hanger on it stained to your specifications via color specifiers. Design similar to image provided by you the customer. The Shadow box depth will be approx. 3 inches deep with glass front and Sargent strip above. Square glass pending. design at base. see added image provided. Stain color still pending. Please let me know if we missed anything and we can modify to fit. Communication: Tim asked a bunch of questions to ensure that the final piece was exactly what I wanted, and offered some ideas to make it better. Professionalism:Every email and our phone call was very professional. Expertise: The coat racks came out EXACTLY how I wanted, and they are very sturdy. Shipping: The coat racks came extremely well packaged in tons of bubble wrap. Value: The price for two custom pieces, plus shipping seemed very reasonable to me. They weren't cheap - but if I wanted cheap I would have gone to Target. Overall, I was extremely impressed with every part of working with Tim, and would highly recommend his work to anyone.

Feb 26, 2019Tim was amazing and made my project easy for me to be involved and his craftsmanship is awesome. I had contacted other artisans but by the first few exchanges with Tim I felt like he was going to be the best choice. Not only was he very professional and timely with his responses but he has a depth of knowledge in what I needed so that he could ask excellent questions and guide me to help make decisions so that it would all work out the way we wanted. This project, a special set of knife handles to go on vintage knives, was not only something we wanted to do but had a special family significance too. Tim made everything easy for me and he made me feel at ease turning over this project to him. he is not only a talented craftsman but also was able to understand the significance of this project to me. The knife handles were beautiful and exactly what we wanted and Tim made this into a great experience. I would definitely like to collaborate with Tim again on future projects.

His attentiveness to what my requirements are for my project assured me that he takes pride in his craft and that he gets satisfaction from creating a thing of beauty. The quality of the wood is as fine and as I expected It was clear throughout my explanation of my project that Tim cares that I will be satisfied.
