Custom Knife Block

I was very excited to see the finished project, Mike has done a couple of projects for me and they always come out beautifully. He is very professional and always makes sure I am happy during all phases of the project

I asked Mike to build a custom jewelry box based on a few photos and a couple of sketches I made. Mike was a pleasure to work with. His expertise with different woods made it easy for us to select beautiful woods that fit my budget and the design character of the project. By the end of the project, I think Mike was enjoying it more than I was which is exactly what you want in a maker. Someone who loves what they do so much they want your project to be a success as much as you do. Thanks Mike and I look forward to our next project together.

Mike Matthew created a beautiful, exquisite chest for us to memorialize our deceased infant son. The woodwork is beautiful, with elegant gold-plated handles, so that the chest can easily be moved from room to room. Mike engraved the chest with our son's name, and included a glass frame on the underside of the lid so that when opened, our son's hand and foot prints are viewed. He also included a drawer at the bottom of the chest so that we could store our son's birth certificate and other related documentation. Mike included thoughtful details, such as a magnet (unseen) at the back of the drawer so that it will always stay on its track. He also included beautiful gold hinges so that the chest will always close completely and the wood won't warp over time to do exposure to moisture. He included a lock so that we can keep the contents private. Finally, Mike was a pleasure to work with. He listened to our ideas and provided several of his own that together resulted in a beautiful chest. He completed the chest well ahead of schedule and was always prompt and responsive.

This was all around a 5 star experience. Woodworking plus kept me advised at all times of what was going on, asked for input whenever he believed I could contribute, and shipped me a perfect product (beautifully packaged I might add!) in even less time than he originally estimated. And I can tell you after shopping around, I know the price I paid was extremely fair and good - particularly for something custom made to order. I love my end result shown in the pictures below (it's the pedestal that the round piece is sitting on). I highly recommend Woodworking plus!

A previous homeowner left a large hole in the granite countertops in our kitchen. I decided to fill it with a custom knife block from Woodworking Plus. Mike did a fantastic job from start to finish. It was easy to develop the custom design I needed in collaboration with him. I sent him photos of the knives and the hole in my counter along with a few dimensions. He created a drawing of the final product which I modified slightly. He then kept me informed of his progress with updates and photos. The final product looks better than I could have imagined with an outstanding finish. The block fits perfectly into the hole and the knives all fit like a glove. The project was a great value considering all the work that went into it.
