Puerta Al Cielo De Noche

$500

After obtaining some excellent grained and figured Bocote, A wood that is found in Mexico, it just cried out to be made into a box with a strong Southwestern feel. This box has one fixed full-sectioned tray and a smaller sliding tray. The trays are lined with a sun bleached brick color suede, and a brass chain to hold the lid opened. Two brass strips were inlayed into the front for decoration and a Blue Agate Geode (found in desert a location) was inlayed into the top to enhance the Western feeling. Looking at the finished project, I felt it had to have a name, (I always try to name my boxes to reflect their look) and Puerta al cielo de noche seemed perfect. It roughly translates in English to "The Road To Your Nighttime Dreams." Besides the Bocote, the other woods used were: Holly, Gabon Ebony and Maple. The box is finished with 7 hand-rubbed coats of an oil finish, concluding with two coats of English wax The box measures 11" x 6" x 4"

After years of being an art director for magazines and advertising agencies, my passion has evolved from beautiful print work to beautiful woodwork.

I have become a creator of "one-of-a-kind" Gallery Quality Jewelry Boxes that I believe are more akin to functional art than just a container to hold jewelry.

All my boxes are made using unique grained, imported wood along with brass or stainless steel details, all drawers or trays lined with leather or suede and occasionally, semi-precious gemstones.

Sometimes, hours are spending deciding which woods work together best. From the eyes of a perfectionist, my boxes do not work unless I feel the wood is the perfect choice.

I feel that the best results are achieved by the needs of what I want a specific boxes’ character or personality to be.

It's my belief that each box must reflect my enjoyment in its creation and that this same feeling has to be passed on the final owner.
