Nine And Three Quarters

$850

The unusual name for this box stems from my partial amputation of my right pinkie while making this box. Although a bit gruesome in nature, I feel this name really reflects the amount of myself I place into the things I make. Luckily, this is not a common event. I find a slight masculine feel to this box possibly resulting from the size and the style. Reflecting my love of Greene & Greene details, the pillowed Ebony square pegs and the protruding box joint construction helps bring this box back to that period in time. The inlayed walnut stripping reinforces the design period of the Greene brothers. This box has three large trays. Two are removable, and one is sectioned into multiple small arrears, excellent for earrings, rings or cufflinks. This box was constructed using rare leopard figured Beli wood, Purpleheart, Walnut Crotch and Gabon Ebony. All trays are lined with rich chocolate suede. Additional, because of its size, I placed a bronzed beveled mirror into the inside top. The hinges are solid brass and have build in stops to hold the top opened. To enhance the decorative look, I've used brass pegs to secure some parts. Again, 7 coats of hand rubbed oil finish and 2 coats of English was have been used to finish this box. The size is 13" x 9" x 5.5".

After years of being an art director for magazines and advertising agencies, my passion has evolved from beautiful print work to beautiful woodwork.

I have become a creator of "one-of-a-kind" Gallery Quality Jewelry Boxes that I believe are more akin to functional art than just a container to hold jewelry.

All my boxes are made using unique grained, imported wood along with brass or stainless steel details, all drawers or trays lined with leather or suede and occasionally, semi-precious gemstones.

Sometimes, hours are spending deciding which woods work together best. From the eyes of a perfectionist, my boxes do not work unless I feel the wood is the perfect choice.

I feel that the best results are achieved by the needs of what I want a specific boxes’ character or personality to be.

It's my belief that each box must reflect my enjoyment in its creation and that this same feeling has to be passed on the final owner.
