Low Profile Cabinet System

$5,500

Scenario: Living room in an old colonial home with a fireplace surrounded by an elaborate mantel; two large windows , not symmetrically located in one corner of the room (see images) with a very wide, tall and dark entertainment center cabinet located between these two windows. The beautiful fireplace is no longer the focal point of the room; your eye is immediatly drawn to this oversized cabinet. Solution: Design a low profile cabinet, that doesn't compete with the fireplace and windows, but offers storage, a place for all the audio/video equipment and a place to display personal objects. In addition, the depth of the short side of the cabinet does not exceed the depth of the fireplace surround (on the same wall but just out of view) to further reduce its impact on the room. The style, millwork, profiles and paint color of the unit match the mantel so it looks original to the home. Note the smal grill on the end of short section; it allows a fresh air return to still function. The client loved the unit so much that they replaced the picture tube TV with a flat screen, which only made the whole area look even better.

Owner/Operator, I work with Homeowners & Interior Designers to create unique furniture that solves a space and function issue as it relates to an interior design. Specialties include reproductions, designing matching furniture to a dicontinued furniture line, built-ins that match styles, profiles and colors already existing in a particular space or room. In addition, the use of aged or carefully salvaged wood, utilizing its fine patina to create an antique look , is available to any style.
