This desk had special meaning to the client after a best friend, who owned the desk, passed away suddenly. This desk was originally made by the Monitor Furniture Company, Jamestown, NY. The company had its heyday in the mid twentieth century. Though now out of business, much of the furniture is still in existence today. Made from mahogany veneer and solid cherry, this desk was in poor shape; much veneer repair was needed, surface damage to the feet required hours of sanding and the "cubby" compartment was rebuilt with better material. The original color was duplicated, sealed with lacquer and all the hardware refurbished.
Custom Furniture Design & Restoration
Owner/Operator, I work with Homeowners & Interior Designers to create unique furniture that solves a space and function issue as it relates to an interior design. Specialties include reproductions, designing matching furniture to a dicontinued furniture line, built-ins that match styles, profiles and colors already existing in a particular space or room. In addition, the use of aged or carefully salvaged wood, utilizing its fine patina to create an antique look , is available to any style.
Ken was great to work with. He understood the project and went the extra mile to clarify points that needed explaining. He was very flexible when I needed to make changes to the design, and he delivered on time. The workmanship on his product was fantastic - superior to much that I've seen from others. Great value for the work, and I look forward to working with him in the future.
Our experience working with Ken was fantastic. He was with us every step of the way. Our home was built in 1850, and we wanted to our built-ins in the bedroom to look as if they had always been part of the house - they came out exactly as we had hoped.
Ken, did a great job on extending the table with new rails and refinishing 12 chairs and the table edge. We had a great experience working with Ken.
