St Louis Toy Museum

This floorcloth was commissioned by the Eugene Field House & St. Louis Toy Museum located in Missouri. The pattern was sketched by noted historian, William Seale, as part of renovation recommendations for the museum. From the sketch we created stencils and then made several samples to perfect the combination of colors.

Gracewood Design makes floorcloths and decorates hardwood and concrete floor surfaces with our extensive portfolio of designs.

Floorcloths are handmade, painted canvas rugs that provide a beautiful, durable and practical alternative to area rugs. Gracewood Design specializes in custom floorcloths made to perfectly compliment their environment in terms of size, palette and style. Visit to see 300+ examples of our work spanning a variety of styles including Early American, Victorian, Arts & Crafts, Deco, Batik and contemporary. Our trademark construction process includes industrial canvas, seven layers of paint, five layers of sealer and an integral double backing creating a truly unique, heirloom quality canvas rug.

We also paint our designs directly on hardwood floors and use stains and dyes to apply these designs to concrete surfaces.
