My name is Larry Lewis-
--MY BUSINESS- I have been a professional metalsmith since 1977. Engaged in Custom work and Restoration. I have experience in most all aspects of metalworking techniques in Gold, Silver, Brass, Copper, Bronze Pewter and Steel.
Techniques such as fabrication, raising, forging, forming, wire fabrication, repousse and chasing. I have more than 35 years experience in Lost Wax casting and Rubber molding. This wide range of techniques provides a broad pallette for me to draw upon as to how a project may be designed and made.---
--MY PHILOSOPHY---“Since the moment I first touched metal in a creative way, I was able to sense the tradition and history inherent within each finished piece, whether it was a Bronze plaque or a Silver teapot… My belief in this tradition has been and continues to be an important element in how I approach each commission. My use of the word “tradition” does not necessarily imply traditional design, as much as the tradition of quality and integrity that all artisans instill into their work. I believe in the ‘100 year plan, I love the idea that the items I make will be around and appreciated long after me.
--- MY WORK--When I design and produce a piece, be it functional or purely decorative, I obligate myself to make the finest product my abilities and the material will allow. I really enjoy combining contemporary design and organic forms using traditional techniques. ---
-- I enjoy the custom design process with a client. My ability to help interpret and bring to life an idea for a client and educate in what is involved in the production continues to be exciting and creative.
