This console table has a top of highly figured cherry veneer with a hand-carved edging of cherry that has been finished with milk paint. The aprons are faced with a dramatic quilted maple veneer with a small contrasting bead along the lower edge. Hand carved legs, also with a milk paint finish, give the table a slightly anthropomorphic feel.

Personal service—the finest materials—exquisite craftsmanship--meticulous attention to detail…. These qualities are at the heart of every commission that I undertake. Since 1979 my shop has produced freestanding and built-in furniture and architectural millwork for homes and offices—each custom job tailored to the needs of a particular client. While it is always nice to have the opportunity to design a piece without any constraints, the challenge of working within the unique universe of a client’s requirements can be even more satisfying. I make every effort to ensure that the work I provide will exceed your expectations and provide years of enjoyment. When you commission custom furniture from Neal Barrett Woodworking, you have the opportunity to have exactly what you need—a unique, heirloom-quality piece that fulfills your functional requirements in an artistic manner.
My work draws on a wide variety of influences that include the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements, Chinese and Japanese traditional furniture, architecture of the Prairie and Art Deco styles, and forms found in nature. Many of my pieces feature highly figured or hand carved hardwoods.
