Hand-Blown Glass And Iron Chandelier

This project presented a series of design challenges. The clients were looking for a custom dining chandelier for their timber frame home that was sculptural yet functional. I needed to light the whole table area yet remain close to the ceiling to stay out of sight lines. The fixture needed to be assymetrical but the light needed to be balanced. And it needed to weigh little enough to be mounted from a single point yet strong enough to support itslef throughtout its length. In the end I came up with this gestural organic design that weaves around the exposed beams and terminates in the hand-blown glass lamp shades by glass aartist Ed Branson
