Live Edge Coffee Table
This table is one in a series of coffee tables exploring the use of local hardwoods and forged steel. They involve the transformation of materials revealing the hidden inner beauty. When the steel arrives from the mill, it is a cold dead material, the forging process brings out an inner warmth and softness. The wood comes from the all too common roadside maples killed by road salt. When milled the inner beauty of the former eyesore is revealed. Artfully combined the two materials compliment and reinforce each other. The tables are substantial but not visually heavy, there is balance between the top and base each fulfilling their role but neither overriding the other, they contrast with one another but also reinforce each other. These simple elegant tables would be equally at home in a rustic lodge or a Manhattan loft.

Since 1989 I have been producing a wide range of products including gates,railings,furniture,custom lighting, sculpture, fireplace screens and accessories. I have worked extensively with architects, interior decorators, lighting designers, contractors and homeowners to create work that not only fulfills its basic function but enhances and integrates well with the overall design scheme.
In addition to traditional wrought ironwork I have studied a wide variety of design styles including Japanese, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, as well as individual styles such as Greene and Greene,Frank Lloyd Wright, and Charles Rennie McIntosh.
