Remodeling their home, David and Desi wanted to retain some of the old materials in a new form. The woodwork (arch trims) were custom designed out of salvaged yellow pine. The sink cabinet was extended onto a skirt board and tapering leg formed of salvaged douglas fir. The surf board - testament to a very athletic couple - is modeled after the old style used in Polynesia historically. The cabinet below is formed of ash solid stock and plywood (to match some salvaged units) with the edge detail in the full overlay drawer fronts and doots matching the FAGO stainless steel kitchen units (Refridgerator, range, oven). Below the Surf Board, hand made corbels of walnut, attached to black oak mounting plates by way of a sliding dovetail. The counter fastened to the corbels using a screw-stud that inserted into a cam bored into the corbel itself.
