Federal Style Large Cherry Dining Table

$3,500+

This massive solid cherry table was built as the finishing touch for a very high end kitchen/dining space. It was built to match the theme designed by architect Richard Sholl for a house situated on the North Shore of Massachusetts Bay. The finish was exactly matched to high end Wood-Mode cabinets (two different stains and a glaze). The end detail for the top was made to match a granite counter top for the kitchen's island (pictured above). The legs were supplied by Matthew Burak in the Federal style. This table measures 100" long with two leaves installed. The leaves are easily stored in the table. I had to make a platform hung from the metal table extensions by screw-on spacers. The platform is felt lined. The table had to be made to a custom width to fit properly in the long narrow kitchen dining area. Memory escapes me at the moment but I believe the table width is 36". The dining area looks out on Massachusetts Bay through a huge bow window designed by the architect.

I hired Paul Norman of SherpaDog Renovations to rebuild a large enclosed front porch which had been destroyed by carpenter ants! I was pleased by the variety of cost effective redesign options Paul offered. In the end I chose to add some ornament to my Victorian home. He replaced the exterior plain shingles with scalloped ones, designed a diamond pattern (instead of the common basket weave) for the exterior skirt of the porch, added wainscoting under the interior windows, built a beautiful wooden ceiling and installed casement windows. I was thrilled with the results. Paul's attention to detail and fine carpentry skills resulted in a porch much admired by my neighbors and friends. I recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, conscientious and creative carpenter. I would definitely hire him again.

Very good. No problems, builder took time to ask questions and provide suggested design elements.
