Writing Studio Windows And Entry Door Made Of Redwood
This project was exciting as we were changing the original use of the building as a shed to an authors' writing studio. The traditional style casement windows were made to match the main homes original windows, including solid brass hardware, insulated glass, true divided lights and old growth redwood. Below the casement windows on the interior are fold down writing desks which allow the author to look directly outside while writing. When guests come to visit the desks fold down and the studio becomes a guest cottage. The front arched top entry door needed to fill an oversize opening of 7' x 4' and so we created the offset doorway that creates an elegant entry with its book matched door panels and flowing arch. Custom sizes are our specialty and we use quality materials to last as long as our high quality construction. We use mortise and tenons, and marine varnishes as well as high quality weather stripping.
