Rensing Center's Entry Doors
The doors are the entryway to the main hall of the Rensing Center (www.rensingcenter.org)– a residency program that promotes cross pollination of art, business and environment. This is where the conferences, public meetings and slideshows are held. Features: I made the doors to have a nice weight and physical presence. For this reason, I chose to make the doors a bulky 2 ¾ inch thick, increasing the typical exterior door thickness of 1 ¾ inches by an inch. The antique hardware includes doorknob, lockset and skeleton key. This is not included in the price as I must check on the availability of antique hardware and price will vary. The insulated fluted glass was chosen to allow light and a bit of color into the room while not providing a clear view into the building at night. The blue color was chosen as a calm, subtle jolt of color that would settle in nicely in the environment of the South Carolina foothills.

Benjie Osborne is a woodworker primarily focusing on furniture, furniture design, custom commissions, and building the occasional boat along the way. He tends toward clean simple lines that give his work a feel that mingles Asian and Shaker styles. This means practical functional pieces that also boast grace and style. Benjie hopes to make furniture that will transcend the fickle ways of trends and the disposable nature of so many things we all purchase these days. Like the handmade purchases he makes, he hopes that his furniture makes its way into homes and that it is used and is passed to the next generation.
