i'm on a multipurpose kick. but since turning a volvo wagon into an amphibious vehicle is apparently a "bad idea" according to, well, everyone, i just keep making multifunction furniture instead. this is a tiny little, child size bench that tilts up on its side to act as a normal size stool. it's made entirely of reclaimed bowling alley maple and has two footrests (for when in stool use) made of walnut. i should mention this could also be a coffee table that doubles as a side table or a tv stand that doubles as a plant stand. etc. think of your own uses. don't let my imagination's limits stifle you! i kept this pretty natural and just treated it with danish oil (and some bowling alley wax, of course). dimensions: 26" long X 12" tall X 10.5" wide (as a bench. do the math for the stool.) i have other pieces made from reclaimed bowling alley in my shop. check 'em out… local pickups and possibly personal delivery is always possible, too. contact me prior to purchase to work it all out. thanks for looking, tim
A Maker who has been a valued part of this community for several years.
Customers say that this Maker ships promptly after completing a project.
This Maker has consistently demonstrated excellence in craftsmanship and customer service.
I am an independent artist/artisan working exclusively in reclaimed, recycled, upcycled and found materials.
i make the useless useful again. i make worthless things priceless.
from conception, to making it to sweeping up, i am a one-man operation - by design.
my work is not for everyone. my customers are people who want truly unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that are made fairly and ethically from locally salvaged materials - with as small a footprint as i can muster.
i will make and ship things all over the united states (depending on size) but i prefer to work regionally (Boston to NYC and thereabouts).
listed on this page are some pieces i've made for others and some pieces i have available for sale. but what i really want to do is design and make what YOU want. let's do it!
be good,
tim

For Custom frame for military trunkTim is super fun and easy to work with. He had lots of creative suggestions for our project (turning my grandfather's WWII trunk into a coffee table), and the finished product was completely perfect, even better than we hoped for!

For Custom Guitars From Reclaimed MaterialsThis was my first experience with Custom Made, and it rocked! Tim did such an awesome job on the bass. He finished way ahead of his projection and kept it at a very reasonable price. The bass itself is beautiful; it plays so well. I’ve owned many basses in my day, but this is by far the most unique. I cannot recommend Tim Sway Perspectives enough. His communication throughout the project was fantastic; I received updates regularly. He was very open to my input, which was great. Tim definitely wants the customer to be satisfied. If you want a really cool bass [or guitar], look no further. Do yourself a favor and let Tim Sway make it for you.

For Reclaimed wood/steel Dining tableI love my table, it's exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful, unique, sturdy, and tells a story. Tim was a pleasure to work with. Communication was quick and pleasant, and the entire project was finished ahead of schedule with zero problems. Since he had to ship it across the country, he built it in such a way to ship it most economically, which was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend Tim Sway Perspectives, and wouldn't hesitate to hire him again in the future.

For Lisa's Dining TableThank you Tim for making my vision come to life (and within budget!!!) You humbly stated that you are not the best wood worker on custom made but you could've fooled me. Your work is beautiful and well crafted, and you know how to work fluidly with your clients, which is the most difficult part. Thank you again and I wouldn't hesitate to work with you again in the future!

For Pinball Machine Converted Into Home Office DeskI had a pinball machine re-purposed as a desk by Tim Sway. My experience was nothing but positive. He has outstanding analytical skills in terms of problem solving, and he is willing to try a few different options until he finds the best solution, which was important for my project as I wanted a two-sided desk. Tim has amazing carpentry skills, and is also a talented artist, needing to match up the paint and have a cohesive design between the original and the new artwork on the sides of the machine/desk. Even after the desk was completed, on time, Tim went out of his to make sure I was comfortable with the shipping arrangements due to my own previous shipping issues, even though it wasn’t Tim’s cheapest shipping option. My friend is considering having a desk made by Tim because of my great experience working with him. Five stars, ++

For Bar CartWe asked Tim to design a bar cart for us and he did a fantastic job. We gave him a budget and he came up with a great design for our cart. This included a sweet set of wheels made from old water valves. Tim was very responsive and helpful throughout the process, and if we need something else made we will be going back to Tim.

For Reclaimed wood counter height table Length 76 inches, Width 38 inches and Height 36 inchesWe love our Tim Sway table. It's the Reclaimed Barn Beam Dining Table and Tim did an amazing job of creating a table that's beautiful, functional and made our vision come to life. We knew that we wanted a tall island/dining table for our newly renovated New England kitchen. And we wanted reclaimed wood with some history. Tim was very helpful with ideas and direction, both with functional concerns (build/usage) and also creative options (wood/metal). He found some nice local heavy barn wood. The final piece was created with frequent consultation and he was always quick to return emails and send photos during the process. We even visited during its build. Honestly, it's better than we ever imagined. It's a delight to eat at this table, use it for food prep, and just hang around. And it's so strong you could park a truck on it! The table is the centerpiece of our kitchen upgrade. It was a pleasure working with Tim. He's talented, attentive ... and is a really nice guy.

For Square Reclaimed Coffee Table "The Monolith"I honestly can't say enough about what a pleasure it was to work with Tim on this project. He is a truly gifted Maker, an artist in fact. Perhaps more importantly, he is a really good guy who takes the time and makes the effort to document and communicate the many steps that go into completing your project. He's got a great sense of humor and is a pleasure to work with. I'm currently brainstorming a new project that I probably don't "need" just so I can work with Tim again.
