Circles
I like to work with simple motifs and the circle is just a perfect example of that. This work has two layers of transparent linen weave. It is meant to hang in the air off the wall, where the light can shift trough the warp painted circles. Because of transparency it is very challenging to take a good photo of it, but believe me, it is a real conversational piece for your interiors.

Textile artist
As a native of Finland, where there is a long tradition in weaving, I worked as a weaving teacher after graduating from textiles and design. In spite of traditional techniques my work has always been contemporary and I believe my work has that Scandinavian style of simplicity. I started as a weaver, but I like to work with mixed textile mediums. I create hand-woven textiles, art quilts and fabric collages for interiors.
My studio is located at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell Massachusetts. The building is a historic 20th century brick mill building that has been converted to artist lofts. Open Studios occur regularly on the first Saturday of every month from noon to 5 PM for the public to visit artists.
