This hand woven rug would fit well in places like entryways, kitchens, etc. Each stripe has two colors giving it nice texture and smooth color change from one color to the next. It has a feeling of an old fashion rag rug, but materials used for it are all new. Warp is black cotton and weft is cotton fabric and jersey knit cut strips.

Textile artist
As a native of Finland, where there is a long tradition in weaving, I worked as a weaving teacher after graduating from textiles and design. In spite of traditional techniques my work has always been contemporary and I believe my work has that Scandinavian style of simplicity. I started as a weaver, but I like to work with mixed textile mediums. I create hand-woven textiles, art quilts and fabric collages for interiors.
My studio is located at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell Massachusetts. The building is a historic 20th century brick mill building that has been converted to artist lofts. Open Studios occur regularly on the first Saturday of every month from noon to 5 PM for the public to visit artists.
