Abstract Room Divider Windows of Hand-made Fused Glass - Dreams Of Philosophy
These two room divider windows were created using hand made fused glass which I made in the kiln and then broke apart and reassembled like a mosaic. I used glass powders and frit to create the "grout lines" between the pieces of and then refused the glass to create these panels. The design was inspired by the way sunlight refracts on the surface of the ocean. The panels are installed in a teak framework that separates an upstairs landing from a study creating a unique room divider. The appearance of the fused glass panels change with the light throughout the day.
The approximate dimensions of each panel are 22" x 12"

After meeting with us initially to better understand what we had in mind for the transom window, she prepared several artist drawings with suggested themes. Every one was a possibility that we could have been pleased with. With her talent it made it difficult to decide. We settled on one, then changed to another, and finally after incorporating elements from more than one, and with further changes and additions we finally settled on what has become a work of art in the 6' wide arched transom window above our 8' front doors. It incorporates elements of the family's heritage with a truly wonderful rondel at it's center.
