Fused Glass Sculpture - Zoom!
This piece was inspired by my ambiguous relationship to Zoom during the pandemic. At times, it was a way to keep in contact with loved ones but I confess, sometimes I felt like it was a chore reflecting the saturation that comes with ease. I wanted to express both the joy of coming together and the need to flee from the tidy boxes we frequently found ourselves in. The fused glass is composed of hand raked glass with indigo square insets. Hand raked glass cabochons, glass frit and stringer are sintered onto the surface of the glass adding texture, depth and a sense of movement to the piece. The glass is seated in black slate and framed in wood.
