The shelf featured here is a brand new "Vail" This is our premium shelf from the Mountain Elegance line. Although the one shown here is quite large please know that yours will be made to any length that you desire, at no extra charge. The body is salvaged barnwood that has been white and silver washed. The darker panels, along with the large 5.5" crown and rope molding are Knotty Alder which has been glazed, giving it an unmistakable depth. The center carved panel has been painted an off white. The corbels are end trimmed with wrought iron scrolling. This is truly a one of a kind design. Each Vail is hand made and finished one at a time, we do not stock this style so please allow us the time needed to make this art piece. It includes everything just as you see it…shelf, corbels with wrought iron scrolling, completely finished and with all mounting material. Also included are easy to follow instructions to get your shelf installed securely. My grandfather began designing and building fireplace mantels and cabinetry around 1901. When I started school around 1962 (5 years old) I loved to go to "the shop" and help. Even though my contribution was more getting in the way than anything else, my father helped me feel like I was contributing to production by paying me $1 an hour. In 1962 that was a handsome wage even for a grown man and here I was getting paid to hang out with sawdust all over the floor (and myself)…talk about a young boys dream come true!
Since then we've developed a unique line of fireplace mantels and shelves unlike anything else I've seen. We take great pride in the design and quality of each piece we build.

May 8, 2020John did a beautiful job on our custom mantels. We have a two sided brick fireplace and he was able to custom make two beautiful wood (painted black) mantels. The only negatives was this project was delayed and communication was difficult due to COVID pandemic. But in the end we were very happy with the results. Thank you John!
