Fireplace Mantel Rustic Beam Hand Hammered Straps
Handmade in Bountiful, Utah by Iguana Art & Design
This is our "Montana With Nails" made out of Knotty Alder that has been hand distressed, stained, glazed and top coated with a catalyzed lacquer which is very durable and water resistant. The straps are 3" wide and the pyramid hand struck nails are 1" square. All of our Mantels are hand made one at a time on the same workbench that my grandfather built in the 1920's We will custom size to any measurements you'd like. The dimensions of the one in the photos…8" deep x 8" tall x 72" wide. Send us a message, we're easy to work with, we respond quickly and are eager to help you with your project! John

My grandfather began designing and building fireplace mantels and cabinetry around 1901. When I started school around 1962 (5 years old) I loved to go to "the shop" and help. Even though my contribution was more getting in the way than anything else, my father helped me feel like I was contributing to production by paying me $1 an hour. In 1962 that was a handsome wage even for a grown man and here I was getting paid to hang out with sawdust all over the floor (and myself)…talk about a young boys dream come true!
Since then we've developed a unique line of fireplace mantels and shelves unlike anything else I've seen. We take great pride in the design and quality of each piece we build.

May 8, 2020John did a beautiful job on our custom mantels. We have a two sided brick fireplace and he was able to custom make two beautiful wood (painted black) mantels. The only negatives was this project was delayed and communication was difficult due to COVID pandemic. But in the end we were very happy with the results. Thank you John!
