Hi There! I’m an artist. I create works that commemorate important life events as well as add joy to every day life. I'm here to create the art you want.
I am a multimedia artist based in Northern New York with over 10 years working with clay and much longer with paint. My work can involve anything from a tea pot shaped like your cat to a large painting, or jewelry.
I love working one on one with people to bring their ideas into reality. If you have an idea for something that you just can’t seem to find it anywhere, I want to hear from you.
My work is a fusion of art and craft that blurs the boundary between these traditions.
I attended Alfred University from 2002 to 2006, earning a BFA. I have attended Medalta International Artists Residency, The Penland School of Crafts, Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, and the Women's Studio Workshop for residencies and workshops in ceramics. I also attended the Vermont Studio Center for a four-week residency in painting. My work has won numerous awards, been shown in various local galleries as well as venues in Canada, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York City.

Kim Ressler
For Custom Kettlebell Coffee MugSara was fabulous to work with. Once the product started, she sent messages often with updates and progress. I even had a chance to add a few things as we went along. The only critique I have is that the engraving is a little hard to read after the glaze. All in all I’m very pleased with my final products and so were my friends who received them as gifts. Thank you Sara!

For Cat Bastet UrnThe urn Sara made for my cat Jinx is beautiful! Very happy to have his forever home, custom made, for my pet that was an individual himself. If working with this artist, please be thorough in asking about steps and how long each step takes so you are not cut off in the middle of revisions. The process was not full explained to me. Also the shipping date was missed, so make sure you are clear if you need it by a specific time. We had 2 months to complete this project, with a shipping date set by the maker. With 1 week left, and not seeing anything other than 2 glaze tests and a drawing, I asked what steps need to get done to ship by the date she set. I was informed she had been sick and the item would not ship on time. I was disappointed, as I didn't set the ship date, as was not informed that there would be delays until I asked. We settled on an amicable solution to rectify the delay. In dealing with items surrounding death, I would have hoped for better communication if a delay were to be had. All in all, within that week proofing photos were coming daily, and we were honing in on the final look of the urn. I was again disappointed when I was told it was too late to make any further revisions as it had to go in the first kiln and there was 1 note of shaping I wanted addressed. A heads up that I had 1 day left for revisions would have been nice. Sara was very professional in her communications though. And obviously knows the medium she works with very well. I am overall very happy with my finished product. I only wish that knowledge was passed along to me throughout the process.
Jessica Karolyi
For Jessica's Wedding & Special OccasionWorking with Sara was amazing. I had a vision for my project and she was able to translate that into a masterpiece. She communicated with me throughout the entire process and sent me plenty of pictures and updates. Her pricing was great and I am so incredibly thankful to have worked with her on my project. She made the process smooth and I would definitely work with her again.

For Ceramic Owl bank for 2yo bedroom?Sara was absolutely wonderful to work with!!! I had a custom request where Sara recreated a bank (that looks like an owl) from a couple pictures I drew, that go with my daughters room theme. Sara worked with my budget and gave me a great price for the cost to make this owl bank and ship it to me. Sara communicated with me every step of the way as she created our bank (from sketch to clay molding to colors, etc...). She sent me pictures as she reached the next step and asked for my opinion to see if she needed to tweak anything before she moved on. The end result was a picture perfect creation!!! It was exactly what I was envisioning the bank to look like. I plan to use Sara in the future when I need any custom ceramics. I have already been passing on her information to some of my friends. Thank you Sara for creating this beautiful bank for my little one. I can't wait to receive it and display it in her bedroom. Shannon Hager

For Custom Kettlebell Coffee MugSara put together an incredibly beautiful piece for me and I am so excited to gift it to my friend. She was communicative and she provided me with pictures in various parts of the process, beginning with the original sketch. I am so glad that I found Sara — the final product exceeded my expectations. And I very much hope to collaborate with her on future projects. (I have already referred to "my ceramicist" in casual conversation.)
Remi Gangarossa
For Remi's DishwareI am making a small movie and recreating a scene from 57 years ago. I needed a piece of intricate, complicated pottery recreated for the scene. Sara assured me she could make the piece of pottery look EXACTLY the same as the original from the 60's. She pulled it off! I can't even come up with the right words to describe how impressively perfect the piece is. I consider myself very, very lucky to have met her through this site. If you need a piece of pottery done perfectly, Sara can deliver. Wow!!! 10/10!
Dan Lozier
For Dan's 2 Scuptures, daft punkified hot dog and pie sliceSara was an absolute pleasure to work with for my project. Very responsive, professional, and a very talented artist, the scuptures turned out absolutely amazing. I wouldn't hesitate going to her again on a future project.

For Little Ganesha SculptureI was the original customer for the Little Ganesha statue. Years later, and after several moves, we couldn't find my Ganesha, so I asked Sara to make me a new one. In the meantime, I'd bought a different god statue from her -- the Hawaiian goddess Pele -- so Sara suggested making the new Ganesha statue in the same raw red clay that the Pele used, so they would go together. That way, if I ever find the little white Ganesha, the three of them will make visual sense as a group, with the new Ganesha holding the other two together. This kind of thoughtful design decision is one of the reasons I keep coming back to Sara. She is so good at thinking out the details that I rarely have to make specific requests; I tell her what I want to make, and she handles the rest. She researched Ganesha on her own and discovered that he's typically portrayed as having only one tusk, so she asked if I wanted her to break one off on purpose, to fit the tradition. She originated all the decisions about what he's holding in his four hands, or what images and designs are all over him in the blue and gold, after looking up traditions surrounding the god. I've always been kept in the loop about what she's come up with, and asked for my input if I want to give it, but almost always I'm best off going with what Sara suggests, because the sculptures consistently come out perfectly that way. Sara's prices are not low, and they shouldn't be, given the quality of her work. But I've never found them unreasonable. Her treasures are packed with the kind of care necessary to protect them; I've ordered three complex ceramic sculptures from her by now and never had them arrive chipped or broken. I don't have a serious objection anywhere... perhaps things might arrive more consistently on time, but she's never more than slightly late, and I'd rather, with this kind of special treasure, she ships "only mostly on time" than "only mostly perfect." And I've never had a single complaint about the work itself, after three separate projects. I will definitely be back to order more from Sara, when I need a new god for my collection.
Elijah Coffee
For Elijah's Sports & HobbiesI am very happy with the end result she created for me I just told her what I wanted and she drew it up and while it did take some time most of that was on my end for not responding to her on time despite that she threw in an extra small version of what I was asking for. She was very kind and very professional and I would most certainly use her again.
Tom Becker

Ann Farrah
For Ann's PaperweightThis is a little long, but worth the read! 29 years ago I found a whole sand dollar on a beach in San Francisco. I was walking with my then husband, my brother and my niece, who was only three years old at the time. I kept it all of these years to give it to her on her wedding day with the message “relationships are fragile - like sand dollars. The time finally arrived for her to wed, so I got busy finding just the right artist to encase this sand dollar in resin, with the finished product being a paperweight. It was a H-U-G-E leap of faith to package and send my treasure to Sara in New York, but I cannot even describe how beautifully it turned out! Sara placed the sand dollar on sand with a few tiny shells around it - it looked just like it did when I first saw it lying on the beach all of those years ago. My niece absolutely loves it, and it is finally sitting on her desk where it belongs. I trusted Sara with the project. She kept the lines of communication open, but in the end I gave her artistic license to create the paperweight. She wanted extra time to spend on the project, which I gladly allowed. It was not done “on time,” but in the end, there really was no time. I just wanted it perfect - and it was! She even made a necklace with a tiny sand dollar on it for me at no extra charge. Priceless. Obviously, I would highly recommend Sara.

Sara gave my dream idea to life.

Emily Hancock
For Custom Personalized Name Coffee Mug Wheel Thrown PotteryWas happy to finally received the item I ordered but it was a very frustrating process of acuatlly recieving this item. Ordered the item in October with an estimated arrival of mid February, finally received item mid July. Communication was great for the first week. Regular updates were nonexistent and when I did receive updates months had gone by and some were after I requested an update. The colors that were requested were inverted on the mug. Purple on the outside vice the inside and the opposite for green. When I received the mug, I did appreciate the look of the mug. I probably would not work with this artist again due to the lack of communication and extensive wait period to receive the mug.
