International Couple Cake Topper

$2,000

How cute are these guys! I made this cake topper out of clay and then hand painted the tiny flags to go with them. I coated them in resin to seal them and the bride's outfit was topped off with real tulle for her veil and dress. I'd be happy to make you a cake topper with any combination of nationalities in any style of outfit.

Hi There! I’m an artist. I create works that commemorate important life events as well as add joy to every day life. I'm here to create the art you want.

I am a multimedia artist based in Northern New York with over 10 years working with clay and much longer with paint. My work can involve anything from a tea pot shaped like your cat to a large painting, or jewelry.

I love working one on one with people to bring their ideas into reality. If you have an idea for something that you just can’t seem to find it anywhere, I want to hear from you.

My work is a fusion of art and craft that blurs the boundary between these traditions.

I attended Alfred University from 2002 to 2006, earning a BFA. I have attended Medalta International Artists Residency, The Penland School of Crafts, Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, and the Women's Studio Workshop for residencies and workshops in ceramics. I also attended the Vermont Studio Center for a four-week residency in painting. My work has won numerous awards, been shown in various local galleries as well as venues in Canada, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York City.

I am extremely happy with the finished project. Sara has excellent artistic skills especially when it required personal interpretation because I didn't know exactly what I wanted. There was great communication during the entire process which made me feel comfortable and as if I was part of the creation.

Working with Sara was awesome. I decided a while ago I wanted to propose to my boyfriend. Well along with an untraditional proposal I wanted a untraditional engagement gift. I originally was seeking out a metal artist to design a pendent for me. Sara was the last artist to contact me. At first I thought making it out of ceramic or porcelain would not be a good idea but the more I thought about it, and after looking at her previous work, I decided to wing it and accept her proposal. She communicated with me throughout the entire project and created a pendant exactly like I wanted it. This wasn't just an art project to me, it was a key to my future. I had run into some money issues, but Sara was more than Willing to let me pay at my own pace which was really gracious of her. I proposed to my boyfriend on Christmas Eve and he said yes! He loved the pendant. The piece was very original and very beautiful. Working with Sara was an A+ experience.

I am very happy with how this project turned out. Initially
I wanted a silver pendant but Sara offered an alternative and I like it so much more. I would highly recommend working with Sara and I hope to work with her again in the future.

The urn Sara made for my cat Jinx is beautiful! Very happy to have his forever home, custom made, for my pet that was an individual himself.

If working with this artist, please be thorough in asking about steps and how long each step takes so you are not cut off in the middle of revisions. The process was not full explained to me. Also the shipping date was missed, so make sure you are clear if you need it by a specific time.

We had 2 months to complete this project, with a shipping date set by the maker. With 1 week left, and not seeing anything other than 2 glaze tests and a drawing, I asked what steps need to get done to ship by the date she set.
I was informed she had been sick and the item would not ship on time. I was disappointed, as I didn't set the ship date, as was not informed that there would be delays until I asked. We settled on an amicable solution to rectify the delay. In dealing with items surrounding death, I would have hoped for better communication if a delay were to be had.

All in all, within that week proofing photos were coming daily, and we were honing in on the final look of the urn. I was again disappointed when I was told it was too late to make any further revisions as it had to go in the first kiln and there was 1 note of shaping I wanted addressed. A heads up that I had 1 day left for revisions would have been nice.

Sara was very professional in her communications though. And obviously knows the medium she works with very well. I am overall very happy with my finished product. I only wish that knowledge was passed along to me throughout the process.
