This was such a fun project! I worked with a client to recreate her house and carriage house in miniature form. I used a combination of photos the client sent me as well as google maps! These are incredibly detailed yet they are still 100% functional.

Hi There! I’m an artist. I create works that commemorate important life events as well as add joy to every day life. I'm here to create the art you want.
I am a multimedia artist based in Northern New York with over 10 years working with clay and much longer with paint. My work can involve anything from a tea pot shaped like your cat to a large painting, or jewelry.
I love working one on one with people to bring their ideas into reality. If you have an idea for something that you just can’t seem to find it anywhere, I want to hear from you.
My work is a fusion of art and craft that blurs the boundary between these traditions.
I attended Alfred University from 2002 to 2006, earning a BFA. I have attended Medalta International Artists Residency, The Penland School of Crafts, Watershed Center for Ceramic Arts, and the Women's Studio Workshop for residencies and workshops in ceramics. I also attended the Vermont Studio Center for a four-week residency in painting. My work has won numerous awards, been shown in various local galleries as well as venues in Canada, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New York City.

For Aztec 'Three Ages of Man' Ceramic MaskThis project was based on a Pre-Columbian museum piece, and I asked Sara to create a very specific design just going by a few photos, dimensions and my own sketches of the original artifact. This was by no means an easy project. Sara is wonderful to work with, excellent artistic sensibility, highly skilled and knowledgeable, and responsive to suggestions. She made adjustments as appropriate, and suggested improvements I had not considered. She accomplished all this with a significant amount of extra work, which she did cheerfully, rising to the challenge. What arrived was a well-packaged piece that exceeded my expectations, well-made, with great attention to quality and detail. Sara is a skilled and caring ceramic artist, and would certainly work with her again!

For Little Ganesha SculptureI was the original customer for the Little Ganesha statue. Years later, and after several moves, we couldn't find my Ganesha, so I asked Sara to make me a new one. In the meantime, I'd bought a different god statue from her -- the Hawaiian goddess Pele -- so Sara suggested making the new Ganesha statue in the same raw red clay that the Pele used, so they would go together. That way, if I ever find the little white Ganesha, the three of them will make visual sense as a group, with the new Ganesha holding the other two together.
This kind of thoughtful design decision is one of the reasons I keep coming back to Sara. She is so good at thinking out the details that I rarely have to make specific requests; I tell her what I want to make, and she handles the rest. She researched Ganesha on her own and discovered that he's typically portrayed as having only one tusk, so she asked if I wanted her to break one off on purpose, to fit the tradition. She originated all the decisions about what he's holding in his four hands, or what images and designs are all over him in the blue and gold, after looking up traditions surrounding the god. I've always been kept in the loop about what she's come up with, and asked for my input if I want to give it, but almost always I'm best off going with what Sara suggests, because the sculptures consistently come out perfectly that way.
Sara's prices are not low, and they shouldn't be, given the quality of her work. But I've never found them unreasonable. Her treasures are packed with the kind of care necessary to protect them; I've ordered three complex ceramic sculptures from her by now and never had them arrive chipped or broken. I don't have a serious objection anywhere… perhaps things might arrive more consistently on time, but she's never more than slightly late, and I'd rather, with this kind of special treasure, she ships "only mostly on time" than "only mostly perfect." And I've never had a single complaint about the work itself, after three separate projects. I will definitely be back to order more from Sara, when I need a new god for my collection.

For Naomi Rivkis' Pele SculptureSara is awesome. This is the second project I've done with her -- both items of serious importance, images of gods worshipped by members of my family. She has an uncanny talent for extracting telepathically the exact image you were thinking of (or, if you didn't have an image in your head, inventing one which turns out to be the exact image you should have been thinking of) and rendering it in clay. She's also professional enough, and humble enough, to listen to concerns, make corrections to order, and solicit your opinion about what the statue needs to be absolutely perfect. As a result, it usually is. Thanks, Sara! You can make my household's gods anytime. :D

For turtle box responseI am extremely happy with the finished project. Sara has excellent artistic skills especially when it required personal interpretation because I didn't know exactly what I wanted. There was great communication during the entire process which made me feel comfortable and as if I was part of the creation.
