This is a UNIQUE and "Once in a Lifetime" piece, just completed by C. Vincent. As each little detail is revealed, you begin to see the level of amazing craftsmanship; craftsmanship that took decades to culminate in perfection. This arbor was made by man and his machines, took over a Year to bring to completion and was made from a SINGLE CEDAR tree. Every step, from DESIGN to completion; moving the log, to milling, to maintaining tools, to persevering trough days when he wanted to say "enough", he kept on. He envisioned, cut, chiseled, sawed, smoked, measured, drilled, planed, sanded and pieced. If you could take it apart you would not find nails or screws, rather you would see tenon and mortise joints, exacting cuts, and expertly joined pieces. Even the flower planters themselves have been carefully designed to drain away from the railings, by building their interior angled, channeled with drainage holes, all designed and completed by the woodworker himself… Vincent is a truly visionary artisan. C. "Vincent" has spent his lifetime making and creating beautiful, usable, and artistic pieces, out of wood.
He learned his craft on the island of St. Vincent in the Windward Islands. He has since, traveled the world perfecting his craft.
Vincent is “hands on” with the wood from beginning to end. He uses reclaimed wood as well as wood that is downed and/or fallen. He starts with whole trees, and works the wood through milling, cutting, shaping, sanding, joining, and carving.
He has an intimate understanding of wood and is an expert in hand carving. His custom furniture includes hand hewn mortise and tenon joints and are held together without nails or screws.
His specialty items include: Chaise Lounges, Fainting Couches, Wood Benches, Bars, and Tables.
Vincent tools include: a vintage band-saw, hand planers, and wood chisels. He builds each piece to bring out the best in beauty, longevity, function and design.
There are very few woodworkers of this caliber, left on the planet, who have devoted their life to perfecting the art of hand crafted wood masterpieces.
