This is the first 'modern segmented' piece that I did. I say 'modern segmented' because some of my first turnings were laminates that qualified as early segmented works. This instead uses various sized rings of segments layered on top of each other to make a form such as this bowl that are turned on the lathe. Here, I have a bowl about nine inches in diameter made mostly from Cherry wood, with a rim of reclaimed Walnut from a table that was sold as Teak.
