Kitchen Island Countertop
This is a kitchen island top 1.5" thick, 3.5 ft long and 2 ft. wide. The ends are 3.5" tall and hold the board up off the table. We used solid hardwoods joined together to make this symmetrical pattern with exotics and domestics combined. The tabletop is machined flat to within 1/1000". It is sanded through 1200 grit while added 5 coats of varnish for a shimmer that brings out "chatoyance" which makes the wood flash as the light hits it at different angles. When this happens it is truly one of the nicest sights to see. The woods in this particular counter top are as follows from center: Figured Cherry, Honduras Mahogany, Curly Maple, Purpleheart, Figured Maple, Purpleheart, Curly Maple, Curly Birch, Mahogany, Cherry Breadboard ends are Curly Birch (see chatoyance) DIMENSIONS 1.5" thick, 3.5 ft long and 2 ft. wide. For Cutting Board Two Sided W/ Breadboard Ends5.0Patrick Joyce did a fabulous job crafting 2 "boards" to serve as a "table" over our unused master bathtub. Everyday the gorgeous boards are a work of art, hiding wine bottles stored beneath them. In our small 1400 square foot 2 bedroom condo, when our house guests use the guest bedroom, the beautiful table over our master bathtub becomes precious private surface space for "whatever". For example, I move some sports gear from the guest closet and place it on part of the table. I have even grabbed a pillow and lounged on the table while having a cup of coffee. At a party, a board can be easily removed from the tub and used in the kitchen, dining, living, or balcony space as a buffet or bar service. A portable glass waterfall table is over the bath fixtures part of the master bathtub. Since everything is portable, in a few minutes the space can be returned to a pure bathtub. I sent Patrick a photo of the tables over the tub, which he might add to this review. Patrick did a great job of packing, addressing, and insuring the boards. When FedEx lost a package for a bit, Patrick immediately communicated with FedEx and me, and got things back on track. Patrick is a wonderful artist, and a good manager. Custommade worked well as the website portal.
