It's hard to beat the raw, natural beauty of wood when you come across a beautiful piece of "live edge" cherry as you see here. The two tone heartwood and sapwood make for a beautiful combination. The rough live edge on the front of cherry looks almost like sandstone, only adding to the natural textures, and further enhancing it's eye-catching prettiness. Imagine laying out a nice cheese or charcuterie feast on this handsome plate and serving it to your guests! You could even use it as an everyday plate, leaving it on your dining table to put spices, napkins and other utensils on. The board uses not a natural oil, such as olive or canola - which can go rancid over time - but a salad bowl finish, which is much more hearty and just as safe as a natural oil. Clean-up is easy - just rinse in warm water, while using a wash cloth to clean to the top, and towel dry. NOTE: This IS the piece you will receive if you order; this pictures are not just "sample" pictures! Snap this up, as this beautiful live edge wood is not easy to come by! Measures 18" x 8" x 2 1/2". The actual slab is 1 1/4" thick!
New Mission Workshop
Give Your Heirs Something to Fight About®
New Mission Workshop is dedicated to fine woodworking, specializing in the Mission, or Craftsman, style of furniture.
I bought these candlesticks as a gift for relatives who not only know Mission styles in great detail, but have also gradually redecorated their home to reflect their love of the style. I feel grateful that Patrick told me that genuine Mission pieces are made in oak, not cherry. My relatives immediately confirmed the accuracy of his work. We all admired the beauty of the candlesticks. The candlesticks were in regular use by the evening's meal. Are the candlesticks pricey? Yes. Might they be over-priced? Possibly. But in fact, I could not find any others with which to compare them. Overall I am extremely happy with the purchase!
Working with Patrick was a first-rate experience. The final product was exactly what we spoke about. His 3D renderings of the complex mission desk are a picture-perfect match to the desk he created. I'm 400 miles from his shop so our only communication was via email and phone conversations. His response time was excellent and he was always open to slight changes throughout the project. I'd recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a craftsman to deliver what you ask of him. No regrets.
We commissioned Patrick to build us an arts & crafts, hall end mirror. After some unforeseen set backs, Patrick sent us not just a mirror, but what we now consider to be a family heirloom. We could not be more thrilled and satisfied. We urge anyone who reads this to invite Patrick in to any discussion you may be having about custom furniture. He is a wizard!
We are extremely happy with our new coffee table. The project went smoothly and we enjoyed working with Patrick. Preliminary discussion of the materials and the expected time frame was easily completed without confusion. The final product is a perfect size with beautiful lines. We would love to work with Patrick on a future project.
I'm enormously pleased with my New Mission Workshop cabinet. Patrick kept me updated throughout the project and offered a number of options for fittings and finish. The cabinet arrived well-packaged an in perfect condition. I'm excited about my new piece and looking forward to my next commission with Patrick. He has terrific design and construction skills and impeccable taste.
