Project objective was to create a new lamp shade to complement my client's vintage Capodimonte lamp. I started the project by getting a clearer idea of what my client was looking for as far as a lamp shade frame shape and the colors and materials my client might be interested in. I sent pictures of different frame shapes that I thought would complement the lamp, and after she chose her frame shape I worked up different ideas as far as covering the frame. The client wanted to stay fairly simple in her design with no lace or fancy pleating, but she did convey that she wanted to go with the colors green, white, and gold since those were the main colors in her lamp. She decided on white for the front and back panels on her shade with green on the sides and the gallery, ( lower scalloped section of the lamp shade frame) white fabric fringe and French gimp trims of green and gold. I have to admit, the combination complemented her lamp beautifully. Note: Prices on large lamp shades have increased due to the very high cost of shipping oversize boxes.
