Traditional Barrister Style Stand-Up Desk

$2,500

Traditionally styled pieces of furniture are always a pleasure to build. This particular one was built using cherry from a single log to ensure the perfect grain orientation and color matching. The joinery is blind-pegged mortise and tenon and the drawers feature hand-cut dovetails and solid rosewood knobs. It is finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish that will protect the wood for generations. This desk can and should be customized to fit the buyers particular size requirements. Should you choose to purchase, I will provide guidelines for taking the required elbow to floor measurements.

My name is Chris Hedges and I am the sole proprietor and designer/craftsman at AedanWorks. For me, working with wood is about more than shaping and joining pieces together to create a whole: It's about creating a tangible object that tells a story and, like all good stories, it’s a collaborative effort. Whether your needs are functional or purely aesthetic, it is my goal to work with you to bring to fruition your ideas and help you tell the story of your life and, ultimately, the story of us.

My Education
After receiving a M.A from Ohio University, I spent two years at the University of Rio Grande's Fine Woodworking program studying everything from basic cabinet making to period furniture, finishing, and carving. During my education, I learned a deep appreciation for hand work and attention to detail. As a testament to my acquired knowledge, during my second year I won top awards at the 2007 Fresh Wood student design competition for the Philadelphia secretary listed in my gallery.

For the past 10 years I have been working diligently to complete as many custom orders as possible and have expanded AedanWorks from a single room in my basement to a fully functional one man furniture studio focusing on hand crafted furniture that honors the skills of traditional craftsman.
