Veneered Chessboard
This chessboard was made with walnut burl and birdseye maple veneer for the squares. The outer border is made with kirelian birch veneer and the edging is solid walnut. I have finished this with a traditional French polish. You'll notice in the picture how it looks like glass. This is easily customizable and I carry a wide variety of veneers (50 to 70 on hand) for just about any job. This board has 1 1/2" squares but the square size is also customizable for any job.

I build a variety of furniture in my small shop here in Norfolk Nebraska. I like working with my customer to come up with original designs and enjoy the challenge of taking something from concept to functional artwork. No project is too big or too small. Each holds its own challenges. I enjoy working with exotic woods and veneers. They add beauty that can only be found in handmade furniture. Wood is my passion and I encourage you to ask questions as it is only in the dialogue between customer and craftsman that true art can really emerge.
